Plate It Forward ™

Pass It On Plates is committed to helping others in our community. With this commitment, we would like to tell you about our two complimentary programs:
Plate It Forward - a unique fund-raising program for non-profit organizations
and
Plate Diary Dollars - providing money to local food banks

Plate It Forward:
Raise Money.
Raise Awareness.
Raise Hope.

Plate It Forward is a new program designed to help non-profit organizations meet their fund-raising goals. The nature of Pass It On Plates supports raising awareness for the organization, with an additional financial incentive to motivate people to keep their Pass It On Plate moving from person to person, sharing information about the organization .

How are these Pass It On Plates different?
When a non-profit organization sets up a fund-raising campaign with Pass It On Plates, their name and website would be hand-painted and fired into the glaze on each plate sold through their organization. We also set up a special page for them on our website, explaining their involvement of the Plate It Forward program and providing links to their sites for more information.

How does it work?
☺ A Pass It On Plate is for sale through our Plate It Forward program. Fired into the glaze on each plate is the organization's name and website are hand-painted on the front. Because many Pass It On Plates are hand-painted by our own artists, some groups may want to have their own members decorate the plates they have sold. A Plate Painting Party can be a lot of fun for groups with elementary or middle school aged kids.

☺ On the back of each plate is a unique registered plate number and our website address so people know where to find the plate diary.

☺ The plate diary includes information about why this particular plate is special, and what organization it supports, helping to raise awareness about that organization. In the plate diary there are also a link or links to that organization's website(s) for more information.

☺ A customer buys this plate and pays the retail price determined by the organization. The organization keeps 100% of the net profits from the sale of the plate.

☺ This kind person visits the plate diary and leaves a message for their friend, then loads the plate with cookies or something yummy and passes it on, telling their friend about the organization named on the plate.

☺ We see a message has been left in the plate diary and send 3% of our own proceeds to the organization supported by that plate. (Just like we do in our Plate Diary Dollars program. The only difference is where we send the check.)

☺ The friend goes to the plate diary and leaves a message for their friend, then loads up the plate with treats again and passes it on, telling them about the organization named on the plate.

☺ We see another message has been left in the plate diary and send another 3% of our own proceeds to the organization supported by that plate. We continue donating our own money up to 15% per plate.

☺ Nobody else is required to pay anything as the plate travels from person to person; all we ask is that they keep the conversation about the organization going.

Can I follow the journey of one of these special plates?
Every Pass It On Plate sold through our Plate It Forward program will have a special registered plate number on them. Each of these plate's online diaries identifies it as part of the Plate It Forward program and includes information (with links) about organization that benefits from the sale and journey of this plate.

Where can I buy one?
Depending on how each non-profit organization chooses to sell these plates, they may be available through our website, through pre-sales organized by the organization, or in person at locations specified by the organization.

What about the money?
Each organization will determine the retail price for their plates, so what they earn could vary. At the very least, based on our minimum retail price recommendation, the initial sale of the plate would earn them a 50% gross profit. Every time a new message is left in the plate diary for that plate, our company donates 3% from our profits to that organization. The more the plate travels, the more that organization earns, and the more people learn about the organization and their needs. Because the plate travels from person to person, spreading awareness of the organization, even with an initial 50% gross profit, each plate could very well provide upwards of 65% or more to the organization.

How can I use the Plate It Forward program for my organization's fund-raiser?

A Pass It On Plate is a ceramic plate that travels from person to person, sharing food gifts and bringing goodies to pot luck dinners.

Each plate has its own tracking number which corresponds to an online Plate Diary.

As people pass their plate from person to person,

they visit our website to read messages left for them by their friends, read about where the plate has been and what it has carried, and they can leave messages to their friends before they pass it on again.

Thank you for visiting!
